Houston Cosmetic Dental Implants
Cosmetic dental implants Houston are generally used to replace missing teeth at The Tanglewood Center for Aesthetic Dentistry. These are biocompatible materials that fuse into the jawbone during the osseointegration process. These artificial tooth-roots are placed into the jawbone and are subsequently restored with beautiful and natural crown work or bridgework.
Implants used to replace a single missing tooth
As the term suggests, root form implants are shaped like a real tooth root. If the patient has an adequate amount of bone, this type of implant is commonly employed. If not, bone grafting is utilized either prior to, or during implant placement. During your initial visit, Dr. Wolfson will first completely examine the condition of your oral health to determine if you are qualified for this houston cosmetic implant procedure. In most instances, a temporary crown is cemented at the time of implant placement that looks and feels like your actual tooth. The implant heals typically in 3-4 months at which time the permanent, porcelain crown is placed.
Dr Wolfson and his houston dental implants staff will discuss proper care and cleaning instructions for your implant during this healing phase.
Implants used to replace multiple teeth
When several teeth are missing, or are non-restorable, these same root form implants are utilized. They are best placed in the bone and are allowed to heal while a temporary is placed. The temporary looks and feels just like your real teeth and functions like them as well. After the healing phase, the implant crowns are placed permanently. Patients feel that they now have their teeth back as they were before they were lost. Their chewing ability is restored and they can eat the foods that they once enjoyed, pain-free.
Implants “All on Four” to replace dentures or to replace an entire arch of missing teeth
Dr Wolfson utilizes the “All-On-Four” technique to restore an entire arch with implants. This is a revolutionary technique that allows for implant placement and an entire arch of teeth placed in a single appointment. Typically, in an arch that has no teeth, Dr. Wolfson and staff will place either four or six implants to support your new full arch of teeth. This technique is a fantastic way to replace missing teeth with implants. Dr Wolfson at The Tanglewood Center for Aesthetic Dentistry, recommends that his patients first complete a comprehensive examination to determine if this procedure is best for their individual case.
With the “All on Four” technique, CT scans are utilized and the case is completely designed on our software program. The software allows for virtual implant placement according to where the patient has the most bone volume and density. Then a computer guided surgical stent is created. This surgical stent is then used to place the dental implants in exactly the same position as on the software design. This way, the teeth are made prior to the actual surgery. On the day of surgery, the implants are placed and the teeth are delivered all in the same appointment. The patient typically enjoys a light meal the evening of the procedure. Patients love the procedure because they are lightly sedated throughout the entire process, so they “wake up” with their teeth in place.
